The RSS Technical Committee has completed an extensive revision of the technical guidance notes, leading to the release of V10 Guidance Notes. These are now available via the RSS website and scheme administrators.

Key updates include:

  • Refined Pollution Scoring: A new methodology ensures a more precise calculation of pollution impact, allowing for a clearer and fairer assessment of growing media products.
  • Updated Calculation Tools: The revised Excel-based calculator is now fully compatible with Office 365 and no longer requires macros, improving accessibility for users.
  • Improved Document Structure: The formatting has been enhanced to improve readability, while references and values have been updated to reflect current industry standards.

A full log of these revisions is available on Page 2 of the document.

The Technical Committee will continue refining the guidance notes throughout 2025 based on industry feedback.
